NYSEG has begun upgrades

After staging equipment by the RRVA entrance yesterday, NYSEG has begun upgrades to our infrastructure.

Equipment staged at entrance to RRVA

From Greg Gomez: They trench, put the conduit in and cover it back up.  The wires will be dragged through later, so they are moving very fast.  More good news: when they cut the road it will be done in halves which will keep the road passable for everyone.  They will trench half the road, put in the conduit and cover it back up, then they will cut the other half of the street.  They expect to complete all trenching and backfilling by the end of next week.

NYSEG upgrades at RRVA

Greg (BoD) has been following up with NYSEG about our electric infrastructure upgrades.

NYSEG LogoNYSEG has informed us that upgrades to RRVA’s electrical infrastructure “will” begin in August.  This is not the first time we’ve been told work will start soon, and in all fairness, this project involves orchestrating many moving parts: heavy equipment for trench digging, sourcing local labor, union compliance, trench building, raw materials supply, implementation and connection of new infrastructure, disconnection of old, removal of old.

Please note, this is the first phase of repairing and upgrading our electrical infrastructure. The work will likely go on for a few years to come.

We will keep you posted.

Parasols And Shade At The Pool

With the removal of the pine trees, there hasn’t been any shade at the pool. This is something we’ve been working to address.

A big thanks to:

  • Katie (BoD) for finding these parasols
  • Maria in the office for execution and taking advantage of Prime Day sales
  • Anthony and RRVA staff for getting these installed on the same day they were delivered

Pool Update

As you know, the pool is open for the season, along with a big thank you to the entire RRVA maintenance crew, for the extra hours they put in to make repairs and get the pool working.

Pool deck with new parasolsThank you to Katie Clinebelle for sourcing new parasols; the old ones were way past their useful lives and mostly fell apart when pulled out of storage. New lounge chairs are forthcoming.

No bare feet on the deck!No Bare Feet! The extensive pool repairs delayed normal maintenance; as a result, the deck hasn’t been resurfaced yet. In order to avoid splinters, please be sure you wear sandals until further notice.

About the pine trees: they were near the end of their natural lives and dying. Their removal was a matter of time. While we’ve known the pine needles were bad for the pool’s plumbing and filters, we didn’t know to what extent they damaged the pool equipment. Several large construction buckets full of pine needles, pine oil and biomass were removed from under the main drain, in order to get the pool open this season.
